Pre-school

Your child is welcome to start at Eckington Under Fives straight after their 2nd Birthday and can continue their Early Years Education with us right up until they start school. We have excellent links with our local village school. Your little one does not need to be potty trained to join us. We suggest bringing them along for some trial play sessions, while you have a chat with one of our wonderful and experienced Pre-School Leaders.

Each of our children has a designated key worker, who will carefully observe and assess their progress and interests and feed these into the planning for each session. Your child’s key worker will keep you informed of your child’s development both through regular conversations and email updates and photos via our Tapestry Assessment programme. These will keep you informed about the activities that your little one enjoys during the day!

More Information

Our sessions are centred on child initiated learning experiences, free flow & small and whole group adult-initiated teaching, using both the indoor and outdoor environments. We prefer to use resources made from natural materials, wherever possible, as these are perfect for developing children’s creativity and imagination, as well as bringing the outdoors and natural world inside. During the morning, the children bring a healthy snack and which we eat together and enjoy sharing conversation.

We are a voluntary committee run charity, which enables us to keep our fees as low as possible whilst having the advantages of a high staff to children ratio.
